Wretchedness

I have a mental picture of the kind of man I want to be. A stable man, walking in integrity, and in constant obedience to the Lord. But then there's the real me.

Hope does not exist in anything, anywhere, at any time except in the prospect of conformity to the character of the Lord Jesus Christ, secured for me by His life and death and applied by the Holy Spirit, and in His promise to really carry this out and not leave me as I am. "Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Rom 7:24,25)

Whenever despair over my self grips me, to You I cling, O, Lord. Leave me not as I am.

  1. Yes Lord, thank you for the Cross, thank You that there's room at the Cross.

  2. I have been feasting on the comfort afforded by the truth of the imputation of Christ's righteousness.

Whenever I meditate on it, joy wells up and spontaneously erupts in worship, as my emotions are gripped by the wonder of God counting me as righteous and worthy of His love in Christ.

  3. Thanks for this post. My soul needs it.

Though this is my first time to comment on your blog, I've been lurking around for some time now. I come to know this blog through a thread created by rejoboto at The Public Square (BARM) (I guess he and Underdog Theology are one and the same person).

    Pare, Pinoy ka ba?.

  4. Pinoy na pinoy 'to, Kuya Manny!

I used to be a BARM Admin as REJOBOTO, but busyness has rendered me useless as Admin, hence my removal from that position.

Where do you attend church, sir?

  5. I'm so glad to find a Pinoy site with substance.

The title FORUM DEACON is still attached to Rejoboto until now. I guess you can return anytime and exercise your authority. I was thrice offered by Justyn M. to be a Moderator but I turned it down because of the same reason-- busyness.

Most probably, you have never heard of my church before: Guiding Light- Dagupan. Hindi kami sikat... hehehe.

    How about your church sir?

  6. Thanks for the appreciation, Kuya Manny.

Are you of the Reformed theological persuasion, bro?

By the way, how old are you? Baka kinukuya kita, e, mas matanda pa ako. Hehehehe.

I attend CCF-Marikina. I serve in the Music Ministry as drummer. It is my desire to have Reformed theology make significant inroads in my sphere of influence, bro. The truth must be spread.

  7. My theological persuasion?
Soteriology: Sa church namin, 5 TULIP petals kami.
Eschatology: Pre-Mil kami. My church is Pre-Trib pero pre-wrath ako personally.

Influences ng pastors namin, John Macarthur, John Piper... you know what follows... hehehe... alam mo naman ang Reformed circle of friends.

32 years old ako; year of birth 1977. Pasensya na't itinago ko sa blogger profile yan ha... hehehe. Sa dami ng kaibigan kong mas bata sa akin, karugtong na ng pangalan ko yung "kuya".

Upholding healthy theology is a noble cause my friend. My sphere of influence is small, but I'm making that effort too.

Hehehe.

Sana mag catch on fire ang Calvinistic zeal sa Pinas. By God's grace, may more of the younger generation see the beauty of God and His truth as revealed in Scripture.

  10. Every true Christian needs to be assaulted everyday by the glorious truths of justification, Ma'am.

How else can we live in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit?
